About Books

Regulars of a Saturday morning at the Owen Sound Farmers’ Market know there is much more than nourishment for the body available from all the busy vendors. There is also food for the mind. Books, shelves of them, draw the bystander to browse and maybe find an old literary friend or make a new one. Arwen Greenwood, proprietor of “About Books” has displayed her wares at Market since 2003. Featured are good quality used books – mainly non-fiction – history, natural history, gardening, science, and children’s literature, usually at half the new price.
About Books, a second generation business, was started in Toronto in 1973. It continues under Arwen’s care from her downtown Owen Sound home where shelves line the walls, housing the extensive collection of books, both antiquarian and general second hand. When not here or at the Saturday morning Owen Sound Farmers’ Market, Sunday morning finds Arwen offering a collection of bargain books at the Rockford Flea Market. Arwen also does book fairs, home and garden shows and antique shows.
About Books offers several specialty services – Arwen is an accredited appraiser, and offers a book search service and will buy single books or whole collections. She is a member of the Antiquarian Booksellers of Canada and the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers.
Arwen Greenwood, About Books is available by appointment at her store.
