Dykstra Orchards
Dykstra Orchards situated next to the village of Clarksburg, the area that is famous for its orchards. It is here where Roger & Karen Dykstra and Sid & Jane Dykstra, with family assistance, operate a successful orchard and market garden enterprise, assuming management of the venture from their father, Sake Dykstra, who began farming there in 1970.
They are often at the Owen Sound Farmers’ Market selling whatever crop that is in season. They only sell what they grow on their farm so only when a variety is “in season” will it appear at their market stand.
Strawberries start the harvest in June on into July, followed by Tomatoes early in August and into September, when apples appear—on into late autumn a parade of apple complexions lure us to taste their juicy flavours – Jersey Macs, Early Golden, Paula Reds, Macs, Cortlands, Spartin, Russets, Spys, Ida Reds, Red Delicious and Jonagold.
